Johnson & Johnson, the world's leading global Pharma, Medical Devices and Consumer-goods company, was founded in 1886 in the United States by the brothers Robert, James, and Edward Johnson. Johnson & Johnson's Credo, crafted in 1943 by the company's chairman and founder, Robert Wood Johnson, sets the values that guide the company, principally the commitment to provide a comprehensive and innovative response to the needs of patients and healthcare providers. Already back then, this document was considered a trailblazer, since it dealt with “corporate social responsibility”, years before the concept gained currency in the business community.
Over the years, the Credo has undergone only minor changes, and in Johnson & Johnson we believe that beyond it being a moral compass, it is also a good recipe for business success. As proof we can show dozens of thriving subsidiaries that have practiced the Credo daily for over 130 years.
