Shaping life, changing the world

Johnson & Johnson, the world's leading global Pharma, Medical Devices and Consumer-goods company, was founded in 1886 in the United States by the brothers Robert, James, and Edward Johnson. Since that time, it has strived to improve quality of life for people around the world, create healthier communities, and lead the way in groundbreaking advances in medical science and technology.
Today, the Johnson & Johnson Group includes 3 major divisions: Pharma, Consumer Products and Medical Devices, as well as dozens of subsidiaries. Its companies in Israel include: Omrix Biopharmaceuticals, a developer of lifesaving bio-surgical products, Janssen Israel, a distributor of innovative and groundbreaking drugs, Biosense Webster, pioneers of revolutionary 3D mapping technology and intrabody navigation, and Johnson Medical Israel, a company responsible for the distribution and marketing of Johnson & Johnson medical devices in Israel.

Johnson & Johnson employs approximately 130,000 people worldwide, including around 1,000 employees in Israel, whose knowledge, capabilities and pursuit of excellence are applied to the development, production and marketing of hundreds of solutions that touch patients and physicians in almost every area of healthcare.

Johnson & Johnson's Credo, crafted in 1943 by the company's chairman and founder, Robert Wood Johnson, sets the values that guide the company, principally the commitment to provide a comprehensive and innovative response to the needs of patients and healthcare providers. Already back then, this document was considered a trailblazer, since it dealt with “corporate social responsibility”, years before the concept gained currency in the business community.
Over the years, the Credo has undergone only minor changes, and in Johnson & Johnson we believe that beyond it being a moral compass, it is also a good recipe for business success. As proof we can show dozens of thriving subsidiaries that have practiced the Credo daily for over 130 years.

On the eve of Johnson & Johnson becoming a publicly traded company, General Robert Wood Johnson wrote “Our Credo”. “Our Credo” articulated the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility long before the term came into popular use. Today, it continues to be the company’s guiding philosophy and inform all aspects of its work Image courtesy: Johnson & Johnson Archives.
